Dehydration an Overlooked Problem in Children, say researchers.
We recently spotted something interesting – and alarming – in What the Doctors Don’t Tell You Magazine, where you can see a regular page feature from us.
Researchers for the American Journal of Public Health* have found that ‘more than half’ of children are dehydrated, leading to symptoms such as irritability, headaches, poor physical performance and reduced cognitive functioning.
Boys fare worse in the hydration stakes than girls, with around 76% of them dehydrated, according to the study.
Nearly a quarter of children aged six to 19 admitted to NEVER drinking plain water at all.
We can hazard a guess as to what the problem is – the relatively cheap and certainly very easy availability of fruit juices and sugary carbonated drinks – but also, children often just don’t like the taste of tap water.
And who can blame them? Many adults struggle to keep themselves properly hydrated, with tap water often tasting chlorinated, and concerns about levels of pesticides, chemicals, traces of medications and hormones.
What’s the solution? Tears and tantrums over drinking tap water? Expensive, resource-degrading bottled water? No, we know the solution is our Pure H2O RODI water – on tap, in your kitchen.
Pure H2O RODI is tap water which has gone through our patented purification process from a purifier that typically installs under your kitchen sink. The RODI process removes man-made and naturally occurring impurities including chemicals, pesticides and bacteria. This produces 99.99% pure water that tastes wonderful and is odourless.
We have several installation options and we even have a rental option if you want to ‘try before you buy’ or budget for your water on a monthly basis.
Fill up (non-plastic) water bottles for your kids packed lunch boxes, trips out and keep one in the car during the school run. When they get home they’ll love adding slices of fruit. If your family loves Sparkling water, then check out our Quatreau tap, which offers Instant Sparkling RODI water from an innovative touch screen.
